Management Reporting | Board Pack

Assembled at close. Not the night before the meeting.

Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, the KPI scorecard and variance against budget come out of the ledger when the period closes. PDF for the board, Excel for the controller, slide-ready charts for the deck. What is left for a person is the commentary, which is the part that needed one.

Board Pack FAQ

What buyers ask.

Our pack takes a week. What actually changes?

The assembly. The statements, the scorecard and the variance are generated, so the week that disappears is mostly the part spent reconciling a spreadsheet back to the books. The commentary still takes as long as thinking takes.

Can we keep our existing layout?

Yes. The pack is built to your structure and section order, because a board that has read the same layout for three years should not have to learn a new one to accommodate a system.

What if we restate something after the pack goes out?

The issued pack is retained as issued and the restatement is a new version, so what the board actually saw remains recoverable. Quietly regenerating history is how a board loses confidence in the reporting.

Does the commentary carry forward?

Yes, notes are held against the period, so the next pack opens with what was said last time rather than a blank field.

Who can see it?

Access is scoped, and the board pack is usually the most sensitive report a finance team produces. Distribution is a list you control rather than a link that circulates.
