OneFinOps vs Xero

Finance ops. Not small-business accounting.

Xero is clean cloud accounting for small businesses and their advisers. OneFinOps is the layer above it: several entities, three-way matching, approval chains, real inventory and the statutory work done from the ledger.

The decision

Xero is built for the bookkeeper. OneFinOps is built for the finance officer.

Xero does invoices, bills and bank feeds well. Where teams hit the limit is depth: a second entity, a purchase order that needs matching to a receipt, an approval chain, or stock that carries a cost.

OneFinOps

Finance-officer grade

  • Multi-entity consolidation in the core, with intercompany eliminated.
  • Three-way matching of order, receipt and invoice, with tolerances.
  • Multi-step approvals with segregation of duties on the record.
  • Inventory valued as it moves, and returns prepared from the ledger.
Xero

Clean small-business accounting

  • Bank feeds, invoicing and bills that are simple and quick.
  • One organisation per subscription; group reporting through apps.
  • Approvals and purchase orders are basic, with no three-way matching.
  • A large app marketplace for inventory, projects and payroll.

Compare FAQ

Buyers ask.

Can we run several companies on one login?

Yes. Every entity keeps its own books, currency and statutory context, and the group consolidates the same postings with intercompany eliminated. Xero runs one organisation per subscription, with group views coming from marketplace apps.

Is there three-way matching?

Yes, in the core. A purchase order, its goods receipt and the supplier invoice are matched line by line with per-supplier tolerances, and a mismatch is held before payment. Xero has purchase orders but no native three-way match.

Do we lose our bank feeds and adviser access?

No. Bank feeds connect to the same accounts, and your accountant gets a role with the access they need. Guided migration from Xero is included.
