What does liquidation waterfall mean?

Liquidation waterfall is another name for Waterfall Analysis. A method of calculating how proceeds from a liquidity event are distributed among shareholders based on their rights and preferences.

The two names mean the same thing. You will see "liquidation waterfall" in some ledgers, reports and contracts and "Waterfall Analysis" in others. The full entry covers how it works, with examples.
