What does Form 24Q mean?

Form 24Q is another name for TDS Return. A quarterly statement filed by tax deductors detailing all TDS deductions made and deposited during each quarter of the financial year.

The two names mean the same thing. You will see "Form 24Q" in some ledgers, reports and contracts and "TDS Return" in others. The full entry covers how it works, with examples.

TDS returns and challans TDS Return A quarterly statement filed by tax deductors detailing all TDS deductions made and deposited during each quarter of the financial year. Also called TDS statement, quarterly TDS return, Form 24Q TDS TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) A system where the payer deducts income tax at prescribed rates before paying the payee, and deposits it with the government on the payee's behalf.
