What does TRACES mean?

TRACES is another name for TRACES Portal. TRACES (TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System) is the government's online portal for TDS/TCS administration, return processing, certificate generation, and compliance management.

The two names mean the same thing. You will see "TRACES" in some ledgers, reports and contracts and "TRACES Portal" in others. The full entry covers how it works, with examples.

TDS returns and challans TRACES Portal TRACES (TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System) is the government's online portal for TDS/TCS administration, return processing, certificate generation, and compliance management. Also called TRACES, TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System TDS TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) A system where the payer deducts income tax at prescribed rates before paying the payee, and deposits it with the government on the payee's behalf.
